2016 Festival - Postponed due to the weather - rearranged date TBC
Malpas Junior cricket festival will be held on Sunday 12th June 2016 at the Malpas CC. Under 10's will kick off the day and play between 9.30 and 1pm apx. After lunch the Under 12's will compete. We have invited some of the best teams in Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales so it promises to a great day.
Rules
The laws of cricket shall apply with the following exceptions:

Safety must remain a principal concern for all coaches/umpires. Coaches/ Umpires should be fully aware of Rule 11 above.
6. Discipline
Coaches/Parents responsible for the teams are asked to ensure that players respect Umpires and their opponents and any reports of unreasonable behaviour will be strictly dealt with.
Rules
The laws of cricket shall apply with the following exceptions:
- The pitch shall be 16 yards (U10) and 19 yards (U12) in length.
- The ball used shall be an Incrediball.
- Each team shall comprise of 6 players
- Each innings shall be of 12 overs duration.
- Games must be completed within the 1 hour. If incomplete, the scores will be taken at the end of the hour. It is your responsibility to keep the game moving.
- The batting side shall be divided into pairs and each pair shall bat for 4 overs. Pairs shall change at the end of the over. This is to ensure both batsmen have an equal amount of strike if possible.
- Batsmen shall have unlimited lives but every time they are out 5 runs shall be deducted from the total. No batsman who is out for any reason shall face the next ball
- Each player on the fielding side MUST BOWL 2 overs each
- Wides and No Balls shall count as 2 runs and no extra balls shall be bowled in the over except in the final over of the game (this is to prevent teams deliberately bowling wides and no balls to win the game). ANY BALL PITCHING SHORTER THAN HALF WAY DOWN THE WICKET SHALL BE CALLED A NO BALL.
- The winning team shall be the side scoring the highest number of runs after deductions of runs for the number of wickets lost.
- No fielder shall be allowed to field nearer than 7 yards from the middle stump.
- Each team must provide an Umpire for its own matches and the Umpires decisions are final.
- Teams losing in Round 1 will enter the Shield tournament.
- Teams will not be allowed to use plastic bats.

Refreshments
There will be a BBQ running from 9.30am serving Bacon butty's and then hot dogs and burgers. There will also be a Tea and Coffee tent also serving homemade cakes and sweets.

At the end of the day, this event is also a fund raiser for Junior cricket in Malpas so there will be the opportunity to win big with our fabulous raffle draw. Please help us by supporting the event.
